"Often yes" depends on season, remaining places and the offer's booking cut-off time; check the availability shown for the date you want.
Three ways to book on the spot
- Online, on your phone: displayed price, traveller reviews, meeting point in writing, free cancellation up to 24 h before on many offers (per listing). Pickup is confirmed by message the day before; check the time.
- At your hotel's reception or excursion desk: convenient, and the rep speaks your language. Compare the price on screen before paying: the hotel's margin can be high, and the online listing gives you a reference.
- From a street or marina seller: the riskiest. Price set by your face, unverifiable gear and boat, cash deposit. See scams and safety.
What to book depending on your time
- Tomorrow morning, calm sea: snorkeling trip or semi-submarine.
- Tomorrow evening: cruise or Bedouin dinner.
- Tomorrow with family: water park or Grand Aquarium.
- No car, little time: what to do in Hurghada in one day.
- In three days or more: Luxor, Cairo, Nile cruise: see Luxor from Hurghada and Cairo by plane.
- An hour or two: free activities or the El Dahar souk.
Good to know before paying
- Pickup: the exact time often arrives the day before by message; far-off hotels (Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh, Soma Bay) are collected earlier and may pay a supplement.
- What is included: transfer, meal, drinks, gear, park entrance. The national park entrance is often paid in cash on the spot; keep dollars or pounds.
- Sea and wind: a boat trip can be cancelled or moved by bad weather; the refund policy should be in writing.
- Insurance and age: for quad and water sports, check the conditions, and never hand over your papers.
- Tip: customary for the guide and crew; see money and tipping.
What not to book at the last minute
A dive with a certification to take, a two-day excursion or a domestic flight: these need more notice, passport and fixed schedules.
