Hurghada Marina: promenade, boats, restaurants and opening hours

Updated on October 18, 2026

The Hurghada marina is the waterfront promenade of the yacht harbour, in the heart of the tourist zone, very close to Sheraton Road. About 500 metres long and fenced, it runs along the quays where yachts and excursion boats are moored, with cafés, restaurants and a few shops. Entry is free, through security checkpoints at both ends. It is the most polished corner of the city: prices are higher than elsewhere, but the evening atmosphere by the water makes a change from the main avenue. People mostly come late in the day to have dinner, drink a tea or a shisha and watch the boats; the harbour office also lets you book sea trips and yacht rentals.

Highlights

The quays and the yachts

Excursion boats and pleasure yachts are moored along the pontoons: many trips to the reefs and islands start from here. The harbour office (Harbor Office) offers boat trips and yacht rentals; compare with the agencies on Sheraton Road before booking.

The marina's pedestrian streets, lined with small pink and ochre buildings, lead to café and restaurant terraces (European, Asian and Arabic cuisine). Access is through the security checkpoints at the two ends of the promenade.

Facing the pontoons, the view of the turquoise water and the yachts is the main show, especially at sunset. There are a few attractions for children: a small train, a virtual reality area and a street performer.

Restaurants, cafés and shisha

The venues mostly serve in the evening; many open towards the end of the morning. Prices are high, and there are few benches outside the terraces: plan to sit at a table. Free toilets are signposted on the promenade, though they can charge a fee when large groups arrive.

Shops

A few clothes and souvenir shops; for a wide choice of souvenirs, the old El Dahar souk is more interesting. For modern shopping, see Senzo Mall.

Tips

  • Come late in the day, when the promenade is lively and cooler, and book a table for dinner in high season. Read the menu before ordering: several guides note that prices are high, sometimes double those of neighbourhood cafés. For a boat trip, get the price, duration and lunch in writing before paying: see scams and safety in Hurghada. Information taken from travel guides consulted in October 2026; confirm opening times and prices on the spot.

How to get there

Hurghada marina, tourist zone, near Sheraton Road. Local buses and minibuses stop about five minutes' walk away; by taxi, ask for "the Marina" and agree the price. From Sakkala or El Dahar, the walk takes 15 to 30 minutes. See also Sheraton Road.

Opening hours

Best: At sunset
Monday-Sunday 10:00-00:00 (according to guides; each venue sets its own hours)
