Daily budget: three levels

One Egyptian pound banknote

According to 2026 estimates for Egypt as a whole, excluding international flights:

Level Per person per day What it covers
Budget about 30 to 50 USD (about 1,000 to 3,000 EGP according to another estimate) Simple accommodation, local meals, short minibus or taxi rides
Comfort about 80 to 150 USD Mid-range hotel, restaurants, an excursion from time to time
Luxury 300 USD and more High-end hotel, private speedboat, diving

These figures cover all of Egypt; Red Sea resorts like Hurghada fluctuate with the season and are often cheaper in summer, when it is very hot. All-inclusive hotel prices are separate: they range from about 80 to 300 USD per room per night according to one 2026 source, depending on category and period.

Accommodation, the first item

The price depends first on the district and the formula. All-inclusive covers meals, drinks and sometimes activities; bed and breakfast or an apartment leaves more freedom to eat in town. To choose, see where to stay in Hurghada. Book early for school holidays and New Year, when prices climb.

Excursions and activities

Trips at sea are the biggest item after the hotel:

  • Shared boat to the islands: about 25 to 45 USD per adult for a 7-hour day with lunch, according to October 2026 offers. See Giftun Island, Orange Bay and Paradise Island.
  • Extra fees: the national park (about 5 to 10 USD or euros per person) and the coast guard fee (about 5 to 7 euros) are sometimes on top.
  • Private speedboat: from about 140 USD per person for a sunset trip with lunch, up to more than 200 USD, according to the offers found.

An excursion to the Nile valley or Cairo is a long and more expensive day: one operator lists a private Hurghada–Cairo transfer from about 235 USD per car for two people. For dives, budget separately with a licensed centre.

Hurghada marina

Getting around

Rides in town cost little, but distances are long. A taxi from the airport to the hotel is estimated at about 150 to 300 EGP depending on distance in one travel guide; negotiate before getting in. Minibuses on the main road are much cheaper than taxis. All the details, including Uber, are in getting around Hurghada.

Eating and drinking

Eating in local restaurants is very cheap compared with Europe; eating at the marina or the hotel costs more. On a budget, allow about 5 to 10 USD a day for simple meals according to a 2026 estimate; at comfort level, about 20 to 40 USD. A fish lunch at the El Dahar fish market is a good price benchmark.

Spending less

  • Compare several boat offers and what they include (park, coast guard, transfer) before booking.
  • Stay in a district where you can eat without the hotel: see Sakkala and El Dahar.
  • Make the most of free things: public beaches and promenades (see free activities in Hurghada).
  • Change and withdraw money carefully; see money and tipping in Hurghada for local customs.

Sample budget for a week

By way of illustration, a comfort-level traveller sleeping 7 nights in a mid-range hotel, taking two boat trips and using taxis could aim for about 80 to 150 USD a day excluding flights, according to these estimates. An all-inclusive traveller will mostly pay for the hotel and add excursions.
