Sheraton Road in Hurghada: hotels, restaurants and an evening stroll
Sheraton Road is Hurghada's main tourist avenue, in the Sakkala district. It runs for about 4 kilometres, but the stretch that is pleasant on foot, with its shops, cafés and fish restaurants, is no more than 2 kilometres long. It is a wide road with pavements, not a pedestrian street, and it is open day and night. It takes its name from one of the first big international hotels on the coast. People come here to have dinner, change money, book a trip or do a bit of shopping; the walk is nicest late in the day, when the heat drops and the signs light up. Expect persistent sellers, who call out to passers-by outside every shop.
Highlights

The avenue at sunset
The shopping stretch lines up travel agencies, currency exchange offices, pharmacies, and shops selling souvenirs, clothes, perfume and jewellery, plus cafés and fish restaurants. In the late afternoon, the softer light and calmer traffic make it the best time to walk it.

The beach on the sea side
On the sea side, several hotels on the street open onto long sandy beaches. Some beaches are reserved for hotel guests, others charge an entrance fee: ask the price at the entrance before settling in. For a swim without a hotel, see our public beaches of Hurghada.
Walking to the marina
Heading north, the mood changes: the street gives way to the landscaped promenade of the Hurghada marina, calmer and more polished. From Sakkala or El Dahar, the walk to the marina takes 15 to 30 minutes at an easy pace, depending on where you start.
Fish and seafood
The street is known for its grilled fish restaurants, alongside fast food. Choose your fish, have it weighed and ask the price before it is cooked. For more places to eat and a livelier evening, see Sakkala.

Tips
- A firm, polite "no thank you" is enough with sellers: do not go into a shop "just to look" if you do not want to haggle. Always agree the price of a taxi before getting in, and fix the price of a trip before paying a deposit; our guide to scams and safety in Hurghada covers the traps. To compare hotels and districts, read where to stay in Hurghada. Information cross-checked in several travel guides in October 2026; addresses change quickly, so check opening times on the spot.
How to get there
Sheraton Road, Sakkala, Hurghada. From El Dahar or elsewhere in the city, take a taxi or a minibus and tell the driver "Sheraton". The marina is a few minutes by car, or a 15 to 30 minute walk from Sakkala. Agree the fare before getting into a taxi.
