Public beaches in Hurghada: where to swim without a hotel (2026)
In Hurghada most of the coastline belongs to hotels, which keep their beach for their guests. There are public beaches, used mainly by Egyptian families, but according to Egypt Independent, which counted ten public beaches in the past, many have been leased to private companies. For a traveller without a seafront hotel there are three solutions: a public beach, a day pass at a hotel or beach club, or a boat trip to Giftun. This page helps you choose.
Highlights

The public beaches
They are numbered; "Public Beach No. 4" is mentioned for its family atmosphere. Entry is symbolic according to user reviews (3 to 20 EGP), but these figures are not official. Facilities are minimal and the shore is sometimes dirty.
Day passes
Many hotels and clubs sell day access to their beach, with sun loungers and sometimes meals or drinks. Reviews list prices of 70 to 150 EGP for some clubs, while other hotels ask much more; ask at reception for the price and what it includes.
Beaches away from town
For the best water you have to leave town: see Makadi Bay or Sahl Hasheesh.
