The excursion with a flight
This is the formula for travellers in a hurry: a domestic flight of about 1 hour, a transfer to Giza (about an hour), pyramids and Sphinx, then a museum depending on the offer (the Grand Egyptian Museum or the Tahrir museum: check which) and the Khan el-Khalili market. Groups are often limited (8 people for the offer cited). Count 12 to 16 hours in total, a very early start, and a flight that may be delayed: make no plans for the same evening.
The excursion by road
A minibus leaves around 2 or 3 am and returns late at night. The desert scenery is beautiful, but you spend more than 10 hours in the vehicle. Book it if budget is the priority; otherwise the flight is worth the extra.
The private transfer
A driver at your disposal, with no group schedule: useful for leaving later, for a family or for spending a night in Cairo. See getting around Hurghada.
What you will see
Details of the plateau, hours and tickets are in the page Giza Pyramids from Hurghada. The Grand Egyptian Museum needs another half day: if it is your priority, spend a night in Cairo.
Our advice
One day is enough for the pyramids and a glimpse of Cairo, not for the rest. Book from October to April, avoid beach sellers, and check what is included (flights, tickets, lunch, tips).
