| Day | Plan | Pace |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Arrival, hotel, beach | light |
| 2 | Boat to Giftun or Orange Bay, snorkelling | full day |
| 3 | Rest, pool, spa or the marina at the end of the day | rest |
| 4 | Luxor: Valley of the Kings, Karnak | very early start, about 15 h |
| 5 | Recover at the hotel or visit El Gouna | rest |
| 6 | Quad, camel and Bedouin dinner in the desert | half day and evening |
| 7 | Last swim, bags, transfer | depends on the flight |
The right order
Put Luxor in the middle: the road is about 290 to 310 km, 4 to 4.5 hours each way, and the next day should stay free. Do not put the boat the day before Luxor: both days are long. For the sea outing, the Orange Bay boat trip with breakfast and lunch is a simple base; compare the others in Giftun and Orange Bay: which trip.
Luxor, Cairo or Aswan?
With only one long day, Luxor is the most reasonable: see Luxor from Hurghada. Aswan needs a night there or a 3-day cruise (Hurghada to Aswan). Cairo is a flight, about one hour according to flight sites (Cairo by plane). For a shorter plan: Hurghada in 3 days.
Where to stay
A week on half board or all-inclusive saves you managing meals; see where to stay in Hurghada and Hurghada hotels on Booking. For evenings, see Hurghada nightlife.
FAQ
Is a week too long? No: excursions fill three days, the rest is beach.
Do I need to book ahead? The most popular trips are booked the day before or earlier, especially in high season.
Can I see Cairo and Luxor in the same week? Yes, but not on the same day: see the longer 10-day plan in Egypt: Red Sea and Nile.
