Soma Bay: beaches, golf, kitesurfing and how to get there from Hurghada in 2026
Soma Bay is a Red Sea resort peninsula about 45 km south of Hurghada airport and 28 km north of Safaga: luxury hotels, an 18-hole Gary Player golf course (par 72), a marina, beaches and a kitesurfing spot known for its steady wind. The transfer from the airport takes from 20 minutes to an hour depending on the route. It is a gated resort: entry is controlled, there is no town around, and you come for a stay, not a day visit. To choose a hotel, see where to stay in Soma Bay.

Practical info
Tips
- Golf, kitesurfing and diving are mostly done from the big hotels: the Gary Player Golf Course and its academy, kite schools near The Breakers (the 7Bft Kite Centre is cited at about 1 km). The "80 to 90% windy days" figures come from a kite spots website: take them as a sales claim, not a guarantee. Before arriving, check that your hotel or activity is booked: without a booking, access is refused. For the wind and neighbouring schools, see Safaga and kitesurfing in Hurghada.
How to get there
