Ras Mohammed: national park, snorkelling and trips from Sharm el-Sheikh (and Hurghada)
Ras Mohammed National Park, at the southern tip of the Sinai, is Egypt's most famous marine reserve: reefs, the Magic Lake (a very salty lagoon), the Shark Observatory and dive sites such as Yolanda Reef and Shark Reef. Entry is reported at 5 to 7 dollars according to travel guides (one source gives 185 EGP, not confirmed), and boat trips from Sharm el-Sheikh cost about 26 to 35 dollars with mask and lunch (seen in October 2026). From Hurghada there is no day trip: you need to stay in Sharm, or choose Hurghada's reefs, see Hurghada or Sharm el-Sheikh.
Highlights

The park coastline
Fossil coral cliffs, pebble beaches and deep blue water at the tip of the Sinai; the Shark Observatory, a cliff over the Gulf of Suez, is a viewpoint for sharks when they pass.

The coral reefs
The best-known snorkelling stops are Yolanda Reef, Shark Reef, South Bereika Bay and Marsa Ghozlani, with coral walls, angelfish and turtles.

Tips
- To sort the options: the boat (26 to 35 dollars, 8 hours with two stops and lunch) is best for seeing the reefs; the half day by bus (about 22 dollars and up) covers Magic Lake, the earthquake crack and Allah's gate but has little swimming. Popular sites receive 20 to 40 boats and up to 100 swimmers at once: leave early or choose a small operator. Equipment is sometimes extra, and some offers exclude the park entry. For diving, see Hurghada's dive sites, not so far if you stay here.
How to get there
The park is about 25 km from Sharm el-Sheikh (approximate distance), with hotel pickup on the trips. From Hurghada you need to plan a stay in Sharm (flight, or a crossing whose current service we did not confirm).
