Port Ghalib and Marsa Alam from Hurghada: distance, transfer, hotels and marina
Port Ghalib is a seaside resort with a marina, near Marsa Alam airport on the Red Sea, about 220 km from Hurghada by road. Count about 3 hours by car; there is no direct bus (the public route goes through El Quseir and Safaga, about 4 h 50 and 29 to 40 US dollars), while a taxi or private transfer costs about 65 to 85 US dollars according to October 2026 listings. You mostly come to sleep in a marina hotel, dive on the nearby reefs, or swim with the turtles and dugongs of Marsa Mubarak. Compare with Hurghada or Marsa Alam.
Highlights

Tips
- To sort the options: if you are in Hurghada for the week, do not make Port Ghalib a one-day round trip (6 hours of driving); if you want to sleep there, book a marina or coastal hotel and a private transfer. For the sea, the most booked trip is snorkelling with turtles and dugongs at Marsa Mubarak (see the offer below); for lodging, see where to stay in Marsa Alam. The Hurghada–Marsa Alam flight exists but is pricey (about 200 to 450 US dollars) and takes under an hour. Do not expect the nightlife of a big town: the evening is spent at the marina.
How to get there
By the southern coastal road from Hurghada, about 3 hours; Marsa Alam airport is very close. See Marsa Alam from Hurghada.
