Philae Temple in Aswan: ticket, boat, opening hours and access from Hurghada
Philae Temple, dedicated to Isis, is Aswan's prettiest site: you visit it by boat, on Agilkia Island, where its stones were rebuilt in the 1970s to escape the rising waters of Lake Nasser. Allow one to two hours on site. From Hurghada it is not a day trip: Aswan is about 220 km south of Luxor, and the offers we found are two- to three-day tours or cruises, see Abu Simbel from Hurghada and the Nile cruise. Once in Aswan, the private half-day with High Dam and Unfinished Obelisk is the most booked option.
Highlights

The Temple of Isis
Pylon, court and Isis sanctuary, the last major Egyptian temple still in use, until the 6th century AD.

The boat crossing
The boat leaves from Shellal marina; approaching the temple over the water is the best part of the visit.

Tips
- We found no official 2026 entrance fee. The boat is quoted at 300 EGP per boat, return with a 1 to 2 hour wait (one agency guide), or 400 to 600 EGP by another source: agree the price before boarding. A sound and light show runs in the evening, from about 20 US dollars according to one guide. Many Egyptian sites accept cards only.
How to get there
Philae is about 15 minutes by car from central Aswan, past the old dam. From Hurghada you must go through Luxor (about 290 to 320 km, four to five hours) and then Aswan: see Hurghada to Luxor: bus or transfer. The three-day cruise is the simplest option.
