El Kawther in Hurghada: a residential district with restaurants and supermarkets
El Kawther is a residential district in central Hurghada, south of Sakkala, between the El Mamsha promenade and the airport. It is not a district of monuments: people come to stay away from the noise of the main avenues, shop in proper supermarkets and eat in cafés used by locals. It suits stays of several weeks, travellers in apartments and anyone who wants a quiet base a few minutes by taxi from the marina. The information in this guide comes from travel guides and local property listings, cross-checked in October 2026; it is no substitute for a visit on the spot.
