Medinet Habu (Luxor): Ramesses III temple, hours, ticket and visit in 2026
Medinet Habu is the great mortuary temple of Ramesses III (reigned about 1186 to 1155 BC) on Luxor's West Bank: walls covered in battle reliefs that are still very readable, a fortified gateway and paint preserved under the ceilings. Allow one to one and a half hours. Hours found: about 6:00 am to 5:00 pm daily (two unofficial sites); ticket: 100 to 200 EGP according to travel guides, no official price confirmed. The easiest way: a half-day private car trip combined with Deir el-Medina and the Valley of the Queens. From Hurghada, see Luxor from Hurghada.
Highlights

The gateway and first pylon
The fortified façade shows the scale of the complex; the temple is quieter than Karnak, so you have time to read the walls.
Practical info
Tips
- The most booked option is the 3-hour private tour "Medinet Habu, Deir el-Medina and Valley of the Queens" (4.8 out of 5, roughly 70 to 77 US dollars per person depending on the day; check whether entrance tickets are included). Combine it with the Hatshepsut temple and the Colossi of Memnon, both close by. Bring water and a hat, and go early: there is little shade.
How to get there
The temple is on the West Bank, south of the road to the Colossi of Memnon. From Luxor, take a taxi or a driver for the day (crossing the Nile by bridge or local boat). From Hurghada it is about 290 to 320 km to Luxor: see Hurghada to Luxor.
