Deir el-Medina (Luxor): the artisans' village, open tombs and tickets in 2026
Deir el-Medina is the village where the workers and artists who dug and decorated the tombs of the Valley of the Kings lived, in the New Kingdom. You see the village ruins, a small Ptolemaic temple of Hathor and Maat, and above all workers' tombs in very bright colours: those of Sennedjem (TT1) and Inherkha (TT359) are the most visited. Allow 1 hour. Ticket: about 30 EGP for the Sennedjem and Inherkha tombs and the temple according to two sites (old rate, not confirmed); the tomb of Pashedu (TT3) needs a separate ticket (one traveller paid 100 EGP). Hours: about 6:00 am to 4:00 or 5:00 pm. The simplest way: the 3-hour private visit that combines it with Medinet Habu and the Valley of the Queens.

Tips
- Workers' tombs are small and more colourful than the great royal tombs: Sennedjem's is the most famous, but visits are limited by how many people can enter at once. One site says a Luxor Pass covers Deir el-Medina. A guide helps with the scenes: book the 3-hour private visit "Medinet Habu, Deir el-Medina and Valley of the Queens" (4.8 out of 5, 70 to 77 US dollars depending on the offer; check whether tickets are included). Add the Valley of the Kings and the Colossi of Memnon.
How to get there
On Luxor's West Bank, between the Valley of the Queens and the Valley of the Kings. Taxi or driver for the day from Luxor; from Hurghada, see Luxor from Hurghada.
