What Sahl Hasheesh really offers
The Sahl Hasheesh page describes a bay laid out like an oriental village, with ochre facades and domes. The water is calm and shallow near the shore, the bay's reef suits snorkeling, and the promenade is best walked in the late afternoon. The resort's luxury hotel, the Oberoi, was ranked first luxury hotel in Egypt by TripAdvisor in 2016.

Seafront or Old Town?
- Seafront: you sleep facing the beach and the promenade. The best setting and the quietest, but restaurants outside your hotel need a short walk or ride.
- Old Town: the pedestrian streets gather shops and cafés, liveliest in the evening. Ideal if you want dinner out without a taxi.
- Set back from the beach: more all-inclusive resorts to choose from, sometimes with a shuttle to the beach; check the real distance on the Booking map.
Limits to know
- Private beaches: many hotels keep their beach for guests. If direct sea access matters, filter for beachfront and read recent reviews.
- Distance: central Hurghada, the marina and the restaurants of El Dahar are a taxi ride away; agree the fare before getting in (see getting around Hurghada).
- Excursions: agencies collect guests at the hotel. Day trips to Luxor or Cairo by plane add a drive from the south; departure is very early.
Booking tips
- All-inclusive or half board: in a resort with no town centre, all-inclusive saves you from relying on neighbouring hotels' restaurants; compare what the plan covers (drinks, à la carte restaurants, beach).
- Transfer: ask the airport-to-hotel transfer price, or book it ahead (Hurghada airport).
- Other resorts: if you hesitate, compare with Makadi Bay, Soma Bay and our guide all-inclusive: which area.
- Snorkeling: the bay reef is visited with mask and snorkel; for real boat trips, see boats to Giftun and Orange Bay.

Is there nightlife? A little, in the Old Town and the hotels; it is not a party resort.
