Wait for a pause in traffic, step out at a steady pace and do not stop in the middle of a lane. Minibuses, taxis and trucks seldom stop; make yourself seen and do not count on pedestrian priority. Traffic drives on the right: look left first.
Where to walk more calmly
Sheri Street, closed to traffic, lets you stroll without crossing. On Sheraton Road, sellers can be insistent: a firm "no thank you" without stopping at the roadside avoids dangerous situations. For long distances or in the heat, a taxi or an app is simpler.
