What the sources ask for at entry
| Point | What sources say | Caveat |
|---|---|---|
| Identification | Microchip | Do it before the vaccine |
| Vaccine | Up-to-date rabies | See your vet's schedule |
| Health certificate | Issued by an official vet, dated 10 to 14 days before arrival depending on the source | Sources contradict each other |
| Parasite treatment | Internal and external before arrival | According to two sites |
| Import permit | Not needed according to some, possible according to others | Ask the embassy |
Hotels and outings
- Hotels: we found no Hurghada hotel that states it accepts pets. On Booking, search Hurghada and tick the "pets allowed" filter, then write to the property to confirm, including any surcharge.
- Beach: most hotel beaches are for guests only; dogs are rarely allowed, ask reception.
- Heat: in summer never leave an animal in a car; plan water and shade.
- Plane: each airline sets its own cabin or hold rules: see flights to Hurghada and ask before buying.
- Return: check your own country's rules for coming back; some require a blood test done weeks before departure.
If pets complicate the stay too much
A day trip without the dog can be solved with the hotel's care or a kennel; see also where to stay in Hurghada.
